A picture that amazes you

I don't know about you guys, but there is something about space and galaxies that just leaves me in awe. Everything from the simple twinkling stars we can see with the naked eye to the most distant and vibrant galaxies that we spy with the aide of telescopes and far reaching droids. I have seen so many breath taking images of the galaxies that surround us and this is just one of them.

This is the firefox galaxy. If it looks somewhat familiar...this would be why.

Armadillo

Besides the fact that they apparently smell and they aren't really meant for domestic life, I have this strange desire to have one...or at least to touch one. I love seeing them run around in the zoo. Oh armadillo! How I love the!

A picture of something you want desperately

I don't think this one really needs any explaining...

Crazy Random Happenstance of Pictures!

For once, I'm not going to copy Breanna! Ha ha! Although her's were all good :) Basically, I'm too lazy and distracted to write about inspirational things... So instead, You get a whole bunch of pictures that have made it onto my computer via the net for some reason or other. All of them make me smile/happy. I suppose that's the one thing they have in common.

A shirt you find awesome and therefore need

Okay, so there are a lot (and I mean a lot) of awesome nerdy shirts that I absolutely love and need but this is a design I came across a long time ago that I absolutely loved (despite the fact that it was a design I had an idea for before seeing that it had already been done). One day I will own this shirt or make my design idea (which I liked better because it had stars and such like this too but without the black knuckle lines and the stupid thumb ring - my idea was a little more clean cut and simple yet still beautiful).

Get freakin ready!!!!

Danielle and I are soooooooooooooo going on opening night for the midnight showing :D

Inspirational story

I decided to do a picture of someone inspiring again but this time I did it with a twist. I went with an inspirational figure that just so happens to be an animal.

Secretariat's story is one of the most inspirational tales that I have ever come across. In my eyes he towers above Seabuscuit, Phar Lap, and Man-O-War (all extremely inspiring stories). I find that I identify with Secretariat, another little horse (who was by no means little at all) named Barbaro, and (much more recently...though Barbaro is pretty recent) Big Brown, more than most of the others. With Barbaro it was about his struggle to live after a sever injury and his uncanny similarities with Secretariat. If anyone was going to be the next triple crown winner, it was Barbaro. Unfortunately he didn't get the chance.
I still remember how emotional I was when I found out they had finally decided to put him down (after months of struggling, gaining a footing over his injury, then getting worse again and again). After Barbaro, we had another shot in Big Brown. He won the first two races and had a great chance of winning the third and becoming the first triple crown winner since Secretariat, but it just wasn't his day. The poor guy didn't feel well and dropped behind the rest of the horses where he stayed. Like Secretariat, he was a closer (stay at the back of the pack and charge to the lead in the last stretch) and if it weren't for some decisions made on the part of his owners, he may have been on his A-game for the last race as well.

But as close as these two horses got to him, Secretariat remains the king of racing. His amazing time and length of victory in the Belmont Stakes has never even been approached. He is the raining triple crown winner and something tells me it may remain so for years to come. When there is an athlete that stands out above the rest in his sport, he is well remembered. I don't think Secretariat will ever fall into the background in the racing world, he was and is just too big to be lost in the shadows of the track. He was a giant.

Freaky...

I think this qualifies... Not as random as Breanna's perhaps... but still freaky.

Lets see...how about a random/freaky picture you found on your computer

Well...I am not sure where the heck this picture came from and why I ever saved it to my computer but it is definitely random and freaky.

Sometimes I Take Pretty Good Pictures...I Think

Once again, I'm going to copy Breanna because great minds think alike (or lack originality on my part ha ha). I'll give you a few pictures. First is my tribute to Sirius Black in a fake political campaign ad I made with my sister. I am so proud of this shot...

Second, this is a shot of the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. I was standing on this big bridge that runs through a park in Grants Pass. This seemed like a nice shot. I think it turned out nicely, don't you?

I think you'll recognize this last one. While I was in Paris, I probably took 30 pictures of the Eiffel Tower alone. This is one of my favorites. I just really love the angle.

And last but not least, this is from the Paris Opera House (the setting of The Phantom of the Opera if you recall). It was stunning! I'm so glad we were able to make time to go inside. If you're ever in Paris, you should go see it for yourself!

A picture to be proud of

Well I'm just making these up now, we still have a week of BEDA left (we should have started the 30 day photo challenge April 1st). You already saw a few pictures I am proud of in the "picture of your night" and "picture of your day" posts so I am going to go with one that I took while we were in California this last summer. The time we didn't spend at Disneyland and California Adventure, we spent on the beach. I took this particular picture out by some tide pools we stopped at while driving down the coast. I can't remember exactly where they were, but the ocean there looked amazing. I took this picture right as a wave was coming in to soak me so I'm proud of my ability to stand my ground for a good picture ha ha. Enjoy.

Here's another picture I took from the same spot but turned to face the left of this shot. Maybe if you recognize the place you can shout it out in the comments below. :)

Wow... 30... It's Over

I can't believe we've reached 30. How did that happen? Is this really the end? Well, as far as someone I miss, I whole handful of people came to mind. The first to come up are people I've shown you pictures of already--my sister, brother, and sister-in-law. They've been in my mind lately. I also thought of all the friends I made while at BYU-I. I wrote a blog post on my personal blog (I guess this is personal too, but hopefully you get what I mean) that I've reached the point where I don't long to go back. I loved it there, and I'm so grateful for the time I had there, but that chapter of my life has closed. It's time to write a new one. I will always look back at those times with fondness, and I'm grateful for the means to keep in touch with so many of those people. I too made a video, one sort of representing my time at BYU-I and the love I feel for that school and the people there. I'm not sure I'll post it here. Even though it's mostly comprised from random video clips I took while a student there, I feel a little more self-conscience about it, like it's extra special/personal for some reason. So I suppose there was really no reason for me to tell you about it. Ha! Maybe someday I'll post it. It was set to Dashboard Confessional's "Stolen." So go listen to that song and imagine a bunch of clips of things like dance programs, attempting to do the worm, people playing guitar, and boys forced into making cookies whilst blindfolded. Breanna, did I show you this video? I feel like I did.... Since there's a clip of you in it...

Anyway, let's pick someone you haven't seen yet. One of my roommates for two semesters (my second and my last) was the beautiful, hysterically psychotic (you know I love you) Sara Holloway.

You should have seen that coming. I had to put one ridiculously horrible picture of the two of us on here! I wonder if our other roommates were concerned about us.... Anyway, Sara darling, we've had some many great times, have we not? In case you've forgotten, here's a few reminders...

-Yoshi
-Hershey's Kissables
-Peach Rings (Mary Bricker....)
-The Worm
-Pointy Hips
-Si
-Desperate Signs to get Dates (He he)
-DON'T PUNCH THE LARD!
-Walmart and Six Flags
-Nachos
-ETC.

We've laughed together, cried together, sung Disney songs together at 2 o'clock in the morning--all signs of true friendship I can assure you. I'm so glad we keep in touch. You're amazing. I know I've made fun of you for liking rocks, but secretly, they're kind of cool... I just can't go that much in depth... I studied English after all :) You should be grateful for that because if I didn't have moments like that story about Rafael. You know you're entertained by my works of fiction! When you're all done with school, let's hang out somewhere random. How's Mount Rushmore sound? I've never been, but it seems cool. Sound cool to you? Sara, please keep me up to date on your life always! I'll return the favor...but you may regret it. Ha ha! Thanks for being a super awesome roommate! Twice! And a half if you count that one time I slept on your floor....

This is the last day of our photo challenge, and Breanna lest you feel forgotten, here's a good memory :)

Thanks for being my friend, for being just as nerdy as I am (if not more so ha ha), reading and liking what I write, etc. Also, thanks for living in Colorado. I know you don't have a lot of control over that... But it will be nice to have a familiar face be one of the first things I see when I fly there in July. Stay awesome, my friend.

Day 30, the final countdown

A picture of someone you miss.

Well I could go with Danielle again, seeing as I do miss her, but she will be here in Colorado in about 2 months so no use dwelling on that. Instead I am going to go with my cat Boots.

Bootsie was my little kitty and best friend from the age of 4 to the age of 20 (almost 21). She died when she was sixteen while I was up at school (3 weeks before I'd be home for Christmas break). I miss her dearly and I have always had this empty feeling that is the absence of closure. It seems to be that way when most of my pets die (especially when it happens while I am gone at school). I try not to think of her but then I get sad because I start to forget her. I know I'll see her again some day but I still miss her. Here's a little video I made for her when she passed. I can't watch it again because I'll cry and my family is coming over for Easter in less than 20 minutes, but you can watch it. :) I wish I had more footage of her to use for this but I made do with what I had.

Here's a virtual tissue...and a virtual hug.

Well now what? There's still a whole week left in April which means a week left of BEDA...what should we post for the next several days?

29 is Disgusted by 27's Rainbow Vomit

There are so many pictures that make me smile. I could explain the story of what's going on in this picture... But it might be better just to let you take it in for awhile.

My sister-in-law and I were supposed to look more like my brother does. Obviously, we failed.

27 threw up 29...don't worry, 27 throws up rainbows

A picture that can always make you smile.

Well they say a pictures worth a thousand words so I'm not going to explain this one at all.

I'm Afraid of 28

My one inexplicable fear that kind of drives me crazy is the fear of needles--more acurately, the fear of needles when in the hand of medical personel.

I've been asked why I'm so afraid of them, but I honestly can't tell you. I have a couple of theories. My brother was convinced it must be connected with some traumatic experience. Isn't getting shots at a young age traumatic for every child? I guess not enough to be afraid of them. So I can't give blood or plasma and I kind of freak out at the prospect of getting shots or having an IV stuck in my arm. It makes me squirm. When I'm actually in that situation, I've been known to cry or at least whimper a little. I mean, I man up and let them poke me because I know it has to happen, and honestly it doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal. But I guess it's better than being afraid of some things.

27 ate 29 and somehow became 28

A picture of something you're afraid of.

Well I am afraid of a heck of a lot of things. There are so many serious answers I could give to this but those would just make me too depressed. So, lets go with this.

If this happened to my phone I think I'd have some sort of heart attack. My phone is like a mini computer I use it so much and if this ever happened to my computer... I know it's just an object but when my best friend is in that phone (as far as texting her ha ha) and many of my other internet friends are available there, it would be heart breaking to lose that (especially when the phone itself is way too expensive). Yeah, I think it's safe to say this picture terrifies me, I cringe every time I look at it.

27 Members of my Family?

Haven't you seen enough of them already? Just kidding. You better not have because they are awesome. Oh man... So many good pictures... and memories.

First of all, I think this should have been the picture I used for the person I do the messed up things with:

Yep. You gotta love local annual carnivals...and taking pictures while on the rides.

Second, I think it's about time I introduce you to my sister-in-law. In case you couldn't guess, she's the one in the middle.

Oh Laura, you are amazing. You are so creative and talented. You give great advice and make delicious peanut butter cookies :) I know you remember that one time you made like two dozen and Stuart and I ate pretty much all of them by the time you got home. I feel like you've always been a part of our family. I'm grateful for all the fun times we've had, and I'm grateful for you! Love ya!

27 dresses?...ooooor 27 hiking boots.

A picture of yourself and a family member.

Well I don't really have that many pictures of just me and one other family member so here is one of me, my siblings, and my cousin. You can guess who is who...but I'm sure it's easy to tell. This is part of a hike we take every time we go up to the cabin. this picture was actually taken down below the trail (off-roading, wooo hoooo!) next to the river (the main attraction of the trail is the falls and you can hike further up the river but we always go down and circle back to the lake and the parking lot). I love the mountains, our cabin, this hike, and the peeps in this picture.

If I Didn't Have 26...

Hmm, what's something I haven't put on here yet? There's lots of things I could go with--family, religion, my mom's photo albums, music, books, dinosaur chicken nuggets. I could say something nerdy like my lappy or some gaming system. There you go. You've got a whole list to start with. Some things mean even more because of certain memories or emotions connected to them. For instance, certain songs have a greater impact on me because of the people or places they remind me of.

Here we go. Something that means a lot to me is the arts in general. I'm talking music, theater, movies, photography, books, paintings, etc.

Although my family isn't necessarily one of those really artsy families, I feel like the arts have always had a place in our home. Music and movies are a big deal with us. 50% of our daily dialogue comes from movie scripts it seems. Music is something that unites us. We love to share it with each other and discover new music together. Grooveshark.com is one of our best friends. We love to read (with the exception of my father and little brother). We like the stage although we don't get to go as often as we'd like perhaps (our two favorites are Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables). We don't really pay as close attention to paintings, photography, sculpture, that sort of art, but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy it. It comes up on occasion and we have visited museums and such. I do like to try and draw, which sometimes works out well and sometimes doesn't... I have a lot to learn in that area.

I feel like the arts is a part of who we are. Sometimes it seems that the arts are underrated. There's great potential and power that comes with the arts. There's a heartfelt expression that can't be expressed through other means at times. The arts have an ability to reach our very core. I believe that.

26, Once more with feeling.

A picture of something that means a lot to you.

Well, I could go the emotional route again and talk about my family or my church or something like that, but I think I'm going to do something a little different than that for this one. I love books and I love writing but it seems like there is one thing that I always love to do.

Whenever I am editing something (unless something frustrates me like problems with the software I'm using) I am so happy. I love the whole process of creating a YouTube video. I love writing the script, planning the angles, filming, editing, posting, watching and re-watching, I love it. Film is something that I just love to death.

25 Seizes the Day

Well, if Breanna gets to brag about Colorado, I certainly get to brag about Washington.

Oops... I forgot to make the pictures center, and I'm much to lazy to fix it...

So the only thing I actually saw/did today is depicted in picture one!

But here's some other things I've

enjoyed in this beautiful state.

Sure it rains a lot here, but that also means there's lots of green! There's lots of places to visit and things to see. There are a lot of hikes around my area. I can climb mountains, visit lakes, take ferries to the islands, visit Seattle, all sorts of great things. And we do actually see the sun every once in a while. It's not just a myth. I love it here.

25, 5 more days left!

Alrighty then,  a picture of my day.

Here is a beautiful picture I took when Danielle and I went hiking up at Bear Lake...I should be a photographer, look how awesome that picture is. I think you want to see another one.

...and another one.

...or maybe several.

You know you are amazed...I know I am. This is why I love Colorado so much. I love the mountains, the fresh air, the trees, the wildlife. I love Colorado. Anyway, there is my beautiful day.
